Funny, but not funny, Bruce!

All we “old” people can do now is mourn the loss of so many things we’d thought
would be forever. Newspapers, candy bars under 50 cents, postage stamps under a
quarter, the corner drug store, TV Guide magazine (digest size of course), soft
drinks in returnable bottles, an 18 cent cheeseburger at McDonald’s, BBF or
Burger Chef, inserts, half-sheets and lobby cards…and yes, real letters
actually written in cursive by real people.

I enjoy the internet and all the new technology, but so many things I thought
would be here for at least my entire time on this earth are long gone. Many,
like cable TV, where I made my career, are hanging on by a thread—funny how
after dreaming of massive TV’s we’d someday be able to hang on the wall, now
that we’ve got them the youngsters will watch video on a tiny iPhone screen
with no complaint. Bill Maher calls it R.I. -- Reverse Improvement. His latest
example? Trying to switch back and forth between 2 football games. Easy on
cable or broadcast TV, a nightmare on streamers. And don’t get my started about
a cable box DVR vs a “cloud” DVR. Just say NO to R.I.!

Fingers crossed the old dinosaur called the USPS doesn’t succumb to the madness
of present day politics. But DeJoy leaving is news I welcome.

Forgive me. What is this "letter" you reference? Is it a kind of text?

Imagine the rates when they privatize the USPS, which is what is being
considered.....shipping packages will probably be more in line with UPS and
Fedex but can't imagine what it will cost to send a letter, which is probably
becoming a dying art anyway, sadly.

I see that he has turned in his resignation. I don't know anything about him,
but things have drastically declined under his watch. I don't anticipate
improvement any time soon, but I guess there is always hope. There probably
needs to be a major overhaul, but that usually means increasing rates (but they
do that anyway). As we discussed earlier, delivery is still erratic and many
are still hung up in the system.
