That's the problem, they often aren't. That's what these programs were designed
to correct. You seem to think the utopic world where people are judged by the
actions and not their skin color already exists. Sadly, too many are judged
unequally by such irrelevant characteristics such as thecolor of their skin.

[Platt]
You condemn a large part of a single race as incompetent?

[Arlo]
You see, it is this twisted and deceitful and vile talk-radio rhetoric that
disgusts and shames me. No, obviously I said that that the competence of many
blacks is not a factor in their success.

[Platt]
You think the scenario would be different if Mexicans or Arabs were looking at
the house? You think blacks would react differently if Koreans were looking to
open a business in a black neighborhood?

[Arlo]
No, I dont think it would have been any different if Mexicans or Arabs were
looking at the house. What does that have to do with anything but prove my
point that people ARE judged by the color of their skin, than many competent
and GOOD people are not afforded a fair chance solely because their skin
contains pigment. And yes, I don't think it is only "whites" who are drawn into
racial hatred. Have YOU ever been denied buying a house? Or opening a
storefront? Have YOU ever found it odd that as soon as you start looking at
homes in a neighborhood, suddenly none are for sale any longer? Racism against
whites is a problem, but blacks lack the power to really effect your life
because of it. Racism against blacks (and other minorities) often does alter
their lives.

Again, the bottom line is that all people have to stop using this irrelevant
"race" card, all people have to stop seeing "blacks and white" and see only
people.

[Platt]
Until then let's not treat the poor whatever their color as helpless victims.

[Arlo]
No, let's treat the poor with compassion and assistance. But let's recognize
that "blacks" are, in fact, often victims (as was the woman seeking to buy the
house) of racist thinking, thinking that not only is rhetorical xenophobia, but
in this case as an example, determined whether or not she was able to buy a
home in a nice neighborhood like anyone else would want.

[Arlo had said]
Sadly, those who most loudly assault "political correctness" are the ones most
likely to slide right into xenophobia.

[Platt]
Evidence?
