Probably not.

Assuming the world is getting warmer (in a dynamic
world the only other possibility is it is getting colder)
and that we can do anything to stop it warming too
quickly or for too long (before it starts getting cooler
again), then I suspect that technology can make the
necessary changes quicker than we can change our
lifestyles. But if we can change our lifestyles in a quality
way that requires less consumption then I would embrace
that. Say we could work a day less and cut our regular travel
by 10-30%, and by being more relaxed and social we might require
less retail therapy that seem to be stress and loneliness driven to me.
