Back from McConnell's Mills. Passed up the
waterfall for the longer walk down the creek hollow,
branch hollows, and then the bigger creek where the
trail ended for us. My son watched and sat in a
backpack I carried. If I stopped to long he would
push me with his hands on my upper shoulders. He's
only a little over a year. We sat near the bigger
creek at the end of our trail and my son walked along
in the sand and onto boulders as I stayed close to
make sure he didn't fall in. We moved up from the
creek, and I made a small fire to warm-up. As I put
leaves in the fire, my son would pick up leaves and
throw them in. My wife and I chatted and laughed as
my son kept dancing every once and awhile. We would
dance along with him. It was the creek water making
music. Lovely, who wouldn't dance. We walked out as
this all became darker and the sun left us. My son
was asleep with his head laying on my back, and my
wife nearby. The leaves lay as snow in browns and
whites on the flats and rolling hills in the dim dusk
light with rounded sandstones, green ferns, and laying
tree branches dotting and dashing.
