Ron Ian SA Well, as with anything in Life, things have to be Dynamic and evolving with the times in order for them to survive.
Jewish dietary laws were issued because there was no refrigeration or meat thermometers. The bible could not be left in Latin forever. the masses needed to read it for themselves. The Torah, like the Koran are still studied in their original text, which leaves very little wiggle room. And here where things get tricky. Unlike the Other two Abrahamaic books, the Torah and the new testament, the Koran was not written by worldly authors, but rather it is the word of God sent down by fax. To add to that, Islam has to Central 'Church'. There is no Vatican, or Pope. Part of the reason for that, is that it allows the individual/community to read it and interpret it for themselves. Democracy at its simplest level. Unfortunately that gives the nut-job the power to interpret it for himself. Sort of the double edge sword the early Mormon church faced when it said that any one can eventually reach nirvana and connect with the almighty, well you can see what that can lead to. Muslim Doctrine is like a balloon, as long as it's 100% intact, it hold up. Make the littlest of holes in it, and the whole thing is gone. Remember, this is the word of the almighty himself, and who are you to make a change here or there. Unfortunately, it's a religion that had a lot of its rules issued to ensure the survivor of it's people. Imagine Jesus showing un in Normandy at the height of the English-French war. Yeah the bible would be a little bit different. Change is inevitable, like Latin, the Arabic of old will be around, but other languages will force it into the background. As for the Doctrine? Well people will eventually realize that change is inevitable. One way the Orthodox Jews get around the rules of keeping the Sabbath Holy, is to have the elevators in apartment buildings stop at each single floor, so the rider does not have to push any buttons. This way you can keep the letter of the Law while violating its spirit.
