[Platt] Hillary wants to "free" children from their parents by having the village provide for the children's needs, turning them into dependents of the village. Her proposals for state sponsored pre-school "education" and the recent California ruling against home schooling exemplify the collectivist view. [Krimel] Aren't parents part of the village? Does not the wonderful capitalist free market system you love demand that parents both get out and work to fuel the economy? Isn't it in everyone's interest to have children grow into productive adults? I depend on the village, you depend on the village, our children and grandchildren and the free market system depend on the village. Is it wrong to think the village should be a nice place to be? I think state sponsored or at least state regulated pre-school helps to insure that pre-schools are Quality places where children's needs are met. I can think of no more productive and meaningful public investment than the future of everyone's children. I am not familiar with the California issue but I know that in my state home schooling is for parents who seek to shield their children from godless evolution and inflict religious bigotry on their young. Just as private schools in the middle of the last century were havens of racial bigotry, home schools all too often are shelters for religious intolerance. But all of the above is just my humble opinion. I am a lowly worm and beg pardon for presuming to inflict such nonsense on reasonable folks in whose shadows I am but a grain of sand. There is no need to trouble yourself responding to my sputtering. I am unworthy of the time you have taken to read this.
