Collectivism is a social system where man exists for the sake of the state. In practice the system has slaughtered millions -- a fact its modern proponents conveniently ignore while blaming the U.S., founded on the principle of individual rights, for all the world's ills. [Krimel] Collectivism served our species well for nearly a quarter of a million years. As for the U.S. being founded on individual rights... Look I would insist that I am as much a patriot as you are but I do not think that it is patriotic to ignore the facts. How do you square the Declaration? 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness." With the Constitution? Article 1, Section 2 Paragraph 3: "Representatives and direct taxes shall be apportioned among the several states which may be included within this union, according to their respective numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole number of free persons, including those bound to service for a term of years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons." Were we founded on the principle that ALL men are equal or on the principle that SOME MEN are equal, some men only count 60% equal and some women count but some women only count 60% and only men who count a 100% can vote and only if you are a voting male will we take the trouble to "...secure the blessings of liberty to you and your posterity"? Come to think of it the job is easier if you exclude the riff raff.
