There is a section about Pirsig in Chris Norris's
book on deconstruction, one of the first in english
on the subject:

Matt,
Blame me all you want but I have no more control over the nonsense that
issues from the keyboards of Platt or Ham than they do. I called Pirsig a
postmodernist partly because it seems to fit but mostly to annoy those who
are constantly perverting what he says without seeming to understand him.
OK
I guess that makes me guilty but I have no idea if Pirsig IS a
postmodernist
or if he even cares. I think the label is one that people like to throw
around with no idea what it means, like communist, socialist etc. Platt
admits he just makes up definitions for those terms. Essentially the
definition for any label he throws around means "baaaaad". So by
definition
Pirsig can not be a postmodernist because Pirsig is goooood and
postmodernists are baaaaaad. We all know how this works. Anyway I look
forward to your more considered reflections on the issues raised earlier
in
this thread. BTW you have an open invitation to join the Krimarlodamo
collective anytime. We are always attempting to absorb new members.
