Hi Gav --
[Ham, previously]:
Ultimate reality cannot be based on a phenomenon. Quality requires a sensible subject in order to to be realized.
[Gav]:
You can also say 'a sensible subject requires quality in order to be realized'...the crucial point is which one comes first!!!! I'll give u a clue - it ain't the subject.
I presume your "clue" is that Quality = Value is primary to subjectivity. I consider Awareness (individuated sensibility) and Otherness (being) as primary to experiential existence, and the differentiation of value as secondary to this dichotomy. I also define the self (subject) as value-sensibility. So, although I could say that one needs value to be aware of himself as an organic being, I would not say that self-awareness or the psyche requires value in order to be realized.
Moreover, I don't agree that the crucial point is "which comes first", since "before and after" is the intellectualized precept of causation which does require a functional brain and nervous system. If you've read my dialogue with Ron, you'll see that I attribute experience to the being-aware dichotomy which "actualizes" existence. I maintain that selfness and otherness are linked by value to the uncreated source (Essence). We haven't yet addressed the question of how this dichotomy arises, but my theory is that it is the differential side or mode of Essence. Without getting into the details of my creation hypothesis at this point, let's just say that from the human perspective Essence is negational.
Thanks for your response, Gav. Regards, Ham
