mel:
I wonder how many times we will
hear these numbers just "slip out"
without much fanfare until we are
numb and can't be bothered to care
anymore. Deliberate overload.

woods:

    Excellent point. We are numb
to a military in over 100 countries
it would seem, so, why not
huge amounts of cash printed
and dumped into the economy. Not
even on these issues, but I find the
feeling of this numbing effect
to be what leads to 'not-caring', and
a sense of complacency has evolved
I would say probably due to numerous
types of deliberate overload or overload.
I think your onto something here. This
could be a stimulus for the whole implosion
of caring into the state much of
population, including myself at one point,
has become.
I do know I feel a personal overload
when I go into the city or am around the TV
too much or even the internet anymore. This
is also why I like zazen, walk in the woods,
or make a fire and sit by it. It's to get rid of
this clutter... ah yes, I think Pirsig called it
clap-trap maybe...
Also this is what Pirsig talked about in this
loss of caring. The spirit weakened.
hhmmm, I think I'm going to think about
this a bit more.
