KO: Whos Bandler and Grinder?
Andre: Richard Bandler (Gestalt therapist) and John Grinder (Linguist) got together and developed what is known as Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) by studying the behaviour (verbal and non-verbal) of 3 very succesful therapists ( Satir, Perls and Erickson). Basically they assert that excellence ( eg as personified by these three in their work) can be studied and made available to anyone who wants to thereby becoming more excellent oneself. Trick is how to recognise the language patterns (plus their reflection in congruent behavioural patterns) they use. Then 'model' these in your own behaviour. It really is very interesting stuff and I have used it on many occassions in my work as Social Worker/ therapist achieving incredible results. I have been fortunate enough to attend a 3-day workshop with Grinder in Melbourne long, long ago. To summarize: NLP is the study of subjective (ie internal) behaviour. Hope this is useful.
