Teleology is tale for children, religious fanatics and Pirsig. Science has
yet to answer, "Why survive?" and " . . . sweeps the whole matter under the
carpet." (Lila, 11)

[Krimel]
Indeed Pirsig's abdominal misunderstanding of evolution has served as a
major stumbling block for the MoQ. The MoQ IS about evolution. It is about
how stability forms and is able to persist in the face of change. Evolution
is about static and dynamic patterns in nature and biology. The MoQ has the
capacity to provide a metaphysical underpinning this aspect of biology.
Pirsig's dreadful use of teleology, the drive toward "betterness" and his
ridiculous notion that life is both anti-entropic and in conflict with the
laws of nature, all serve to weaken the impact and potential of the MoQ.
