Ian,
My ongoing ire at Pirsig's distortions might have tempered had he shown any
sign of grasping the magnitude and consequences of his errors but in the
Baggini interview he repeats them with emphasis. I understand your desire to
give him a pass but find that I am unable to be so charitable.

Krim, Platt,

To be fair in the 60's / 70's Pirsig would have had to do some serious
digging to find enlightened views of emergence and "as if
teleological" neo-Darwinian explanations. Perhaps by the time of Lila
80's / 90's he should have done that research ... but clearly he was
never one for relating his thinking to the current thinking of others
- not his style.

Neo-Darwinism has evolved to converge very well with Pirsigian views.
IMHO naturally. Ant's work has no problem pointing out the good fit.
Puzzled why people feel the need for such a downer on neo-Darwinism.

As well as Dennett on neo-Darwinism, people should read our own Paul
Turner on "as if causality". This is no longer mysterious stuff folks.
It will be three generations before this is common knowledge, but
that's life. MoQers have no excuse for such ignorance.
