Ian,
The only argument you and I have is over giving Pirsig a pass or not. The
only reason this comes up is in regards to my comments on Platt's pin headed
"oops" remarks. But it is not like Platt is the only one seduced but this
crap. Ham, gav and others are equally befuddled. I would happily award
Pirsig a pass and move on but this same discussion iterates times and again
and it arises in part from Pirsig himself.

Hi Krim,

I'm not trying to "give him a pass", I'm just saying it's history,
let's move on and do something useful with what we've actually got
now. (Whether it came from Pirsig or not.)

Of course I agree he didn't do his own case any favours by referring
to all dialogue with other philosophologists as philosophology ...
that was ancient news before Baggini had ever head of Pirsig. Who
cares about Pirsig's case - he's big and ugly enough to look after
himself or sail off into the sunset as he chooses ? (As MoQ demands in
fact.)

I care about reality and getting somewhere better from here and now.
Pointing out that a better Pirsig could have given us somewhere else
to start from is the proverbial rea-arranging angels on the head of a
pin.
