[Arlo had asked]
Can you give me examples of "social mores, and cultural heritage" that are
"American" and those that are "foreign" and would "degenerate [our] sovereignty?

[Ham responds with a quote]
"The explosive growth of the U.S. Hispanic population over the next couple
of decades does not bode well for American social stability. Hispanic
immigrants bring near-Third World levels of fertility to America...

[Arlo]
Large families are a "foreign value" that would "degenerate our sovereignty"?
My grandfather was one of twelve siblings, and he was not "Hispanic". But I
take it then you feel that "small families" and "low-fertility levels" are the
American cultural values we should enforce?

[Ham]
coupled with what were once thought to be First World levels of illegitimacy.

[Arlo]
"Illiteracy" is a Hispanic cultural value? "Literacy", are you saying, is an
American cultural value? We rank 20th in the world, are you suggesting that
without the Hispanics within our borders we'd lead the world?

[Ham]
Nearly half of the children born to Hispanic mothers in the U.S. are born
out of wedlock...

[Arlo]
So out-of-marriage pregnancy is a "Hispanic" cultural value? Did someone tell
Sarah Palin's daughter?

[Ham]
But the real tragedy is that, of those Hispanics who do graduate, only about
one in five will have completed a high school curriculum that qualifies for
college enrollment.

[Arlo]
So educational success is an American cultural value, but Hispanic culture
values failure at school?

[Ham]
...Meanwhile, almost one in three Mexican-American males between the ages of 18
and 24 recently reported being arrested, one in five has been jailed, and
15,000 illegal aliens are currently in the California penal system."

[Arlo]
"Crime" is a Hispanic cultural value? Does that mean embezzlement and white
collar crime is an "American cultural value"?

[Ham]
As to the affects of other alien cultures, a new law in France bans the wearing
of headscarves and religious symbols in general.

[Arlo]
People wearing headscarves degenerates our sovereignty? What about NASCAR caps?
Are they okay? Jewish caps? Buddhist robes?

[Ham]
As to your question concerning traditional America values and traditions, I
would place individual responsibility and self-reliance high on the list,
followed by respect for one's fellow man, the patriotism to fight for freedom...

[Arlo]
Not uniquely American, but these are the things you feel are "common" to all
who are in some way part of "American culture"? Okay.

[Ham]
... preserve Judeo-Christian morality, speak English as the "official"
language...

[Arlo]
Ah you had me there. But this is just nonsense. "Judeo-Christian morality"?
You'd say that Buddhism is a threat to our sovereignty? As for "English only",
I find less and less compulsion to even address that right-wing crap.

[Ham]
... abide by the U.S. Constitution in governance...

[Arlo]
American cultural value is "abiding national law?"

[Ham]
...maintain the traditional family structure...

[Arlo]
Why? What structure? For what end? My friend is unmarried, is he degenerating
our sovereignty? I have another friend-couple that has been childless (and will
remain so), is that degenerative? How do gay degenerate your sovereignty Ham?
What does there presence prevent you from doing?

[Ham]
You are misinformed. Egalitarianism, globalism, and multiculturalism were most
certainly not America's founding principles, nor do I see these ideologies as
representative of what this nation stands for.

[Arlo]
Its you who are misinformed. Granted, Europeans who colonized this land were
often brutal to other groups. But the values were there. And continue to be the
thing we should be most proud of.
