[Woods] My heaven is beyond the socially engineered. [Arlo] Are you heading in the direction of anarchy (as Micah does) or social-conservatism (as Platt does)?
For example, in your recent anger towards "the state", do you also want to abolish public education, police, libraries, roads, courts, government-enforced property rights (or should "the individual" be responsible for protecting his own property?)? You talk about abolishing The Federal Reserve, do you also so favor abolishing any government backed "currency"? Complete freedom from "the state" and a return to bartering chickens for eggs? What about the military? What about a government body regulating citizenship? Driver's records (should we let drivers fare for themselves on the road? Or should the evil state dictate who can drive and at what speed?) What about the department that standardizes weights and measures? Should EMT services be paid for privately? (Maybe a credit card over the phone before an ambulance is dispatched, or a fire unit comes to put the fire out?) If your house was robbed, would you call the police? Or do you advocate you the individual handling it without "the state"? [Woods] Free-thinking does have it's benefits. [Arlo] Sure, and if you define "free-thinking" as saying anything you can pretty much pat yourself on the back all the time.
