Oooh, a quiz from our lovely professor...hehe
Maybe the question should be what's the difference
between a government and statism? The former is what people
have been trying to have for thousands of years. An entity that
protects people, not only by law, but with force if necessary.
The latter, statism, is more administrative and unrepresentative. But
these are old terms that Locke, Hutchison, Jefferson, Madison, and others
back to the Greek city-states would have understood, but hey I'm only
in league with those people that "made" the concept.
Seeing that the Federal Reserve is a private entity given charter by
the U.S. back in the 1913 day of... yeah that thingy called an "Act" that is
not
transparent being that it holds it private banking stub sheets, well, private.
And Bernanke rushed off to BIS in Switzerland two days ago and canceled
his Congressional Hearing and sent his aid instead, well, you know that BIS
international central banker meeting is more important than the interests here
for them... Oh, and in a free market there's all these neat little things that
happened called barter, currency, giving, stability since you don't have a
central bank creating recessions, depressions, and high times (booms and busts)
and
then that same bank coming out acting like saviors cause the sheeple don't know
their economics and don't like to think, but hey... it only makes it easier for
them.
So in the tradition of Jefferson, Jackson, Lincoln (in his late years), and
John
Kennedy I'm against central banks too, but that's only because I'm educated in
this
area...hehe
But this is way over your head Arlo, and I'm not hear to teach you. You
can learn about this yourself... so little time.

My heaven is beyond the socially engineered.
[Arlo]
Are you heading in the direction of anarchy (as Micah does) or
social-conservatism (as Platt does)?
For example, in your recent anger towards "the state", do you also want to
abolish public education, police, libraries, roads, courts, government-enforced
property rights (or should "the individual" be responsible for protecting his
own property?)? You talk about abolishing The Federal Reserve, do you also so
favor abolishing any government backed "currency"? Complete freedom from "the
state" and a return to bartering chickens for eggs? What about the military?
What about a government body regulating citizenship? Driver's records (should
we let drivers fare for themselves on the road? Or should the evil state
dictate who can drive and at what speed?) What about the department that
standardizes weights and measures? Should EMT services be paid for privately?
(Maybe a credit card over the phone before an ambulance is dispatched, or a
fire unit comes to put the fire out?) If your house was robbed, would you call
the police? Or do you advocate you the individual handling it without "the
state"?
[Woods]
Free-thinking does have it's benefits.
[Arlo]
Sure, and if you define "free-thinking" as saying anything you can pretty much
pat yourself on the back all the time.
