MP to Andre:

As to my answer; it was essentially the same as yours; your "experience" is
my "empirical observation", your "belief without belief" is my "faith." IMO
we are saying the same thing, but I'm doing it from a theistic linguistic
basis and you are not.

Andre:

I am not very good at word games but let me try to use MoQ language: Quality
has the patterns called 'Andre". I am created by it. I am a cohesion of
changing static patterns of this Quality. (paraphrasing Lila, p142).
By saying 'no belief needed' I meant to indicate that there is no 'gap'
needed in the way that your 'empirical observation' suggests, and that your
'faith' suggests. This suggestion indicates a 'gap' between you and God.
This as opposed to my 'experiencing'.

I hear what you are trying the convey by your 'unloaded' god. It reminds me
of travelling in a bus and being pulled over at a check point, crossing from
one county into the next. Out the bus we all had to go and there we were met
by a line of (boy) soldiers with an uzi strapped across their chest. Not a
very pleasant party and a low quality experience.
However, returning home and relating this experience to my colleage I was
assured that the uzies were not loaded!
This did not take anything away from my experience (it certainly did not
make me feel any better) and given a possible future repeat encounter my
reaction would be similar.
What I am getting at Michael is that these patterns mean something. They
have connotations...low quality connotations. This is why Pirsig wants to
avoid the use of god for quality as well.
Why not call your unloaded god 'Quality'? It would save a lot of confusion
and low quality knee jerk reactions.

For what it's worth.
