Some very perceptive comments at the bottom of the article Platt passed
along:

 "The world starts out being like a wonderful hallucinogenic experience,
intense, thrilling even down to the last bug you see. But then you keep
coming up against these monsters, your parents, who don't experience the
world like this at all taking out their unhappiness on you every day. I
believe it would be better for such children never to have been born, such
is the mental damage"

It is probably the most important task humans have - bringing new life into
the world and nurturing this new mind. But alas, so little training,
education or preparation is given to young girls on this task.  Once the
damage is done, it is hard to undo.
