MK to Andre: How does one differentiate between "spouting hate speech" and "circulating ideas"? I continue to be stumped by this one. Thanks.
Andre: Hi,M K. Perhaps the key word (for me at least) is the word 'hate'.For me hate means destroy, wanting something dead (not to be there anymore). In this way (I know I am cutting corners here) this sort of speech seeks to put an end to any circulation of ideas other than those acceptable by the spouters of these speeches.And usually, as I have tried to say, these are not speeches but one-liners.The burning of the books (e.g. the Koran) revisited.
