I didn't see the point made that painters were supposed to uphold social
moral codes.  I saw the point made that perhaps painters might do more than
attack social moral codes.  Any given painter has a certain orientation
toward society; when the only critically acceptable orientation is
sociopathic, then that's a censorship  problem as relevant to society's
evolution as decreeing "Normal Rockwell Value Only".
