Shouldn't it be too big to succeed? The nimble small business eats the lunch
of the megalithic bureaucracy every time.

[Arlo]
Glad to hear you are for anti-monopoly laws. The trouble with your claim is
that it holds no historical truth. Power entrenches. Whether "guvmint" or the
"corporation", power consolidates. Where Walmart moves in, "small businesses"
go under.

[Todd]
The people who are let go and re-employed will benefit better than being trod
on by the stagnant bosslord... who typically cannot survive in a "real"
economy...

[Arlo]
I hear you. I was against the bailouts as well. Let them die, my motto. Good
riddance. But the root cause that led to this is still unchanged. History will
merely repeat itself again. We are already back to watching GS CEO's receiving
millions in bonuses.

[Todd]
and must live in a guvmint or big bureaucracy where quality and merit don't
matter.

[Arlo]
Well, the resident dittohead will no doubt go orgasmic over posts, but this
sort of distorted rhetoric is best left to the substantively empty airwaves of
talk-radio. Quality matters in government as much as it matters in the
corporate world. And given Pirsig's laments that no one really gets Quality,
its no wonder why both suffer the same malady.

By the way, you asked about people like you who just want "to live free". That
was my goal as well, until Platt told me I had to put a muffler on my Harley or
he'd see me arrested and thrown in jail. But I am glad to hear there is another
voice I can count on to throw freedom at those commie noise-environmentalists.
On a side note, if you really want to live free, there are miles and miles and
miles of unspoiled acreage up in the Yukon... go knock yourself out.
