[platt] > There are millions of people throughout the world who would > literally risk their lives to be able to stand in one of those checkout lines. You > would deny them that dream because you know what's best for them?
[khaled] Absolutely not. Build it and let them come. But with time, they will start questioning the virtues of such places. Little by little, as they 'come up' in the world, they will realize that while the prices were good at these stores, the cost to their environment, community, and health were not so great. They will start looking around and find out that such places do not provide Quality, the tide will turn, anything not built on good solid principals will collapse. Price and cost are two separate issues, and most people tend to think that they are the same. No house of cards or sand castle has lasted eternity. Only what was built of steel and stone on solid foundation has endured. This country was built with blood sweat and tears ( Mostly of the Indians and the slaves), but is was a country that built things, put people to work manufacturing things. Then we turned to a society that was going to provide services, well that is gone. Now wealth is being created through one pyramid scheme after another. That is doomed to collapse, because it's not quality work, it's built on deceit, and taking advantage of the unwary. It lacks Quality. I wish we can hear from Robert, to ask his opinion on the state of current affairs, and find out what his predictions are. People in bread lines, do not discuss philosophy.
