To Dan, Thanks so much! I am giggling! Long ago in a distant past I did live for over a year without a tv set. This was a social experiment back in the days when I used to do such things. Unfortunately I don't remember what year it was or what happened - because I didn't have a tv set.
My Dad was the intellectual in the family. I have a theory about this. Once you get to know me you will realize I have a theory about everything. So now you have been warned. Anyway, he, my Dad, was a left-handed man. What is the significance of this, you may ask? Well, (as Ronald Reagan used to say - everything he ever said started with "Well...") (I also digress a lot), the significance of this was that he was actually born right-handed, but somewhere around the age of three or so he broke his right arm somehow and it took a long time to heal up. In the intervening year or two he had to learn to use his left hand. By the time he started school he had become so accustomed to it that he started writing with his left hand too. The rest is history. I have a belief that left-handed men are special. They exercise the right side of their brain. Watch Obama sign something. He is left-handed too. I have high hopes though they are starting to get dashed. But Oh, I forgot - you don't have a tv set.
