Krimel to Steve: This just reduces DQ to anything that is "good" not all DQ is good...
Andre: This is a fair comment Krimel eventhough the experience of immediate apprehension may be termed as something 'good' the static result may be subject to moral conflicts. Remember that Pirsig makes clear that DQ's perceived good is freedom.(In McWatt, PhD). I can imagine that the instance of immediate apprehesion and the release from static patterns made be experienced as 'good' but the hangover afterwards may be less so. [Krimel] When the big rock wiped out the dinosaur, I would say that was an event of pure dynamic quality. Was that good or bad? Andre: What then is/are factors that 'cause' static improvement? [Krimel] I would say that is entirely up to whoever is affected by the change. Andre: Pirsig does not make this claim. He suggests it is the 'condition' of total destruction. [Krimel] When Pirsig makes a claim that is misguided or flat out wrong why do so many feel the need to rush to his defense? Krimel:Selection of lottery tickets is a chaotic process Andre: Interesting...how is it 'chaotic'?...because it is random/probability?? [Krimel] Yes. Krimel: Chaos is a creative force... Andre: The MoQ states clearly, given the quote cited, that chaos isn't the source of anything. [Krimel] See above. Saying it isn't the source of anything when you don't know what IT is, is not very convincing.
