Krimel to Andre: The distinction between self and other is built into the genetic patterns of slime mold. The perception of the self as distinction from others begins in all human beings everywhere and everywhen around the age of six months. By 13 or 14 months all healthy human infants develop the ability to see the world from different points of view. They can see themselves as subjects and they can see themselves as objects. This is not an artifact of the Greek age. It is an artifact of being a human being on planet earth.
Andre: The notion of 'self' is an intellectual construction. The notion of 'other' is another intellectual construction. The notion of 'self' in relation to 'other' is another intellectual construction. To suggest that this is a universal intellectual construction is presumptuous. Krimel: But the level may contain "bad" patterns as well. Andre: Your level said it.
