Ian and Ant, I remember reading an article in the paper once, I think it was the Sacramento Bee, about a sociological study of gang dynamics and what the guy discovered was that the leader of the gang was not necessarily the biggest, or the strongest or meanest, but the leader was often the one who could spin a meaningful story about the gang's existence. His skill at weaving the individual's lives into a larger framework was what controlled the gang.
