Hi Mary,
I think you can draw the upper boundary of intellectual patterning at the > point where the subject meets the object - where the subjective rubber > meets > the objective road. I think the limit of the intellectual level stops at > the point where we try to conceptualize anything in terms other than > subjects and objects. This is why I am almost 99% in Bodvar's Intellectual > Level = SOM camp at this point. Give me one example where you are able to > conceptualize anything without presupposing a viewer and a viewed and I > will > probably be able to say that is an example of transcending the Intellectual > Level to enter the realm of pre-intellectual awareness - otherwise known as > Quality. What do you think? I think its illogical to definitionally bound, definitional bounding. I think it's impossible to intellectually pattern, intellectual patterning I don't think you can measure measuring. I think SOM is the kindergarten of the 4th level, certainly not the whole thing. Royce calls it the first conception of being, that no serious thinker considers for long. But who knows? You'll probably find a lot of agreement for this view. In our modern mediated world of frustrated observers, everybody want to be the teacher, standing at the front of class and pontificating and the pragmatic way to achieve this is to promote stupidity in the classroom. So maybe you're right and the best idea is to settle upon the lowest common denominator of SOM as the whole enchilada and soothe the uncomfortable feelings with self-contradictory terms like "pre-intellectual awareness" Good luck with that and take care, John Moq_Discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
