Hello X Acto knife, Hmmm. Pythagoreans and neo's? I don't get it. Went to your wiki link, which, by the way, one of my son's teachers says they should never use because you can't trust anything written in Wikipedia. An odd sentiment I told him. Why people would go to so much trouble to falsify pythagoreanism, for instance, is beyond me, but hey, I just work here.
The only thing I know about Pythagoras is what I learned in geometry class, so I was surprised to learn they had such reverence for BEANS. Personally, my favorite meal is beans, cornbread and fried potatoes. This was handed down from my southern poor-white-trash parents. My Mother used to pick cotton every year just so she could get new shoes for school, and her favorite meal after a hard day of childhood labor was beans, cornbread, and fried potatoes. My son, who has never picked cotton in his life, much less actually seen a cotton plant, likes the fried potatoes but doesn't like the beans. Go figure. Of course the beans are no good without a big ham hock added to the pot. That grease really gives those beans great flavor. There's a difference of opinion about whether you should serve red beans or white. Reds are traditional, but, despite the fact that they are Yankee food, I prefer Great Northern beans myself, a connoisseur of red-neck cuisine. The five pointed star thing intrigued me too, especially the fact that Pythagoreans put two points up and the one down. Here in Texas, the five pointed star is a potent symbol of the state and always has the one point at the top, thus confirming my belief that Texans have a point on the top of their head. I especially liked this quote, " Women were given equal opportunity to study as Pythagoreans; however, they learned practical domestic skills in addition to philosophy.[9] Women were held to be different from men, [I put emphasis HERE >] but sometimes in good ways." Snorting Dr. Pepper up my nose! SOMETIMES? Since Marsha is on sabbatical, I guess I am the token woman on the list. Try to be nicer, you guys! You don't really want to just sit around and talk to yourselves, do you? ;) Mary - The most important thing you will ever make is a realization. > Sorry to butt in, but that makes good sense Mary, in fact it can be > traced > to the Pythagoreans and neopythagoreans. > > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythagoreanism > > > -Ron Moq_Discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
