This I still don't get. Say you are writing on an old typewriter, when the line reaches the margin you will have to "shift" manually. On a e-mail program if you insert a word - or whole strings - at the beginning the whole post arranges itself while keeping the set line length, no first line "gets too long". OK you say as much at the end and why DMB and other don't skip this tedious work is beyond me. About paragraphs. In the said typewriter days one could just use an indented line to mark such, but in mail programs you have to separate them with a blank line.
