All:

Last evening I was lucky enough to catch the Olympic ice skating pairs
competition where first up were the Chinese couple. I say lucky because
I along with millions witnessed consummate beauty of such rarity that it
when it occurs it literally takes your breath away. The write up of the
event in this morning's NY Times described it well:

"Skating to the song 'Who Wants to Live Forever' by Brian May, they
performed a clean program that was so beautiful, it alternately hushed
the crowd, then roused it into a tizzy."

Pirsig described such breathless beauty even better:

"What the record did was weaken for a moment your existing static
patterns in such a way that the Dynamic Quality all around you shone
through. It was free, without static forms." (Lila, 9)

The Chinese skaters weakened a lot of static patterns last night. If you
missed it, catch the replay if you can.

Best,
Platt.
