I think the proper response when it happens is, "I find no fault with your argument, yet am unpersuaded and wish to think more deeply upon the matter before acceding." And then going off and meditating for a good long while. The MoQ describes a certain faith that gets you through stucknesses, and this is one of 'em. But I think you can't get unstuck if you're not honest. You described honesty as an important component of the dialectical process and I believe you nailed it on the head with that one. yay you.
