No surprise here. The usual personal attack. Anyone who has been around for awhile knows that Arlo, who is an academic at Penn State, sneers at my "inane, sophomoric anti-intellectual" views, implying that he and his fellow academicians, by contrast, are learned and enlightened. Such arrogance was recognized by Pirsig himself when in answer to an interview question he said:
"It is my opinion that university faculty people are not very nice. They grade people every quarter, every year. That temperament develops. You know when you talk to them they are judging you. An their judgment is usually harsh." In Arlo's case, "not nice" is putting it mildly. Otherwise, the shoe fits . . .
