[Platt] Also found there is Pirsig's critique of academic philosophology. Anti-intellectual? The man knows whereof he speaks.
[Arlo] My point (why do I bother?) is that seeing how he supports and endorses the academic work of Ant and DMB, your attempt to portray them as engaging in "philosophology" is inane. As for others on the list engaged in academic discourse, all one has to do is open either ZMM or LILA to find Pirsig discussing Kant, Poincare, Einstein, Boas, James, Socrates, Aristotle, among others, and see him intellectually situating his views into the historical narrative. One can assume, safely, that Pirsig is not a champion of ignorance. If you think John's ideas on integrating/juxtaposing Royce with Pirsig is unimportant, or you can't follow along 'cause of the big words, just don't read his posts. Just don't suggest that Pirsig would prefer the list devolve into nothing but sophomoric "random thoughts" oscillating between "dogs go woof woof" and "leftists hate freedom".
