Hi Craig

I have a little request for you, it's about what you do when starting to reply to a post.

It should be enough to just press some button in your mail program called "Reply", you will then get the whole text of the mail you want to respond to and then start editing the text. Nothing else is required.

However, it seems you're almost always see a need to edit the Subject line. When most other people have replied to a post, the subject line says something like:

Re: [MD] Decision

The "Re:" part is usually prepended by the mail program and means "regarding". The [MD] part is prepended by the list server and is also a good piece of info for all of us as receivers. It's rather good to leave the "Re:" (and [MD]) parts intact for several reasons.

1. We see that you're not the thread starter. If you remove it, it looks like you are, (which is a bit confusing).

2. Often, you forget to remove the space between [MD] and the subject thread name. This results in a subject line like:

[MD] Decision (2 spaces after [MD])
instead of
[MD] Decision (1 space after [MD])

3. When I sort mail messages according to the thread name (by pressing the header above the message list called "Subject"), your posts aren't always listed together with the other posts in that thread. This is because of the extra space you sometimes leave behind. That also goes for the posts that have replied to your posts with the extra space, like this one. I have 2 spaces after [MD] in this post because this is a reply to your post.

So, what I want to say is, don't edit the subject line on our account. It makes it a teeny bit more cumbersome to read. If you really feel a need to do it though, of course I can't stop you.

Best regards,

        Magnus

Substitute "Duck!".
