Thanks Marsha, Yes, that's key -- but those imprisoned by intellectualism in the SOM level are hesitant to apply any intuitive or aesthetic response to concepts, even though Pirsig encourages such evaluations. I was instantly attracted to Pirsig by the beauty of his thinking compared to the twisted, snarled, redundant, bloviated, choking, weed-filled impenetrable jungle of verbiage one has to hack through when reading most philosophies. But after reading Pirsig for the first time with nary a hidden rock to stumble over or a vine to untangle, my singular reaction was, "A beautiful new vista of understanding has been opened to me," like looking up and seeing the stars above for the first time, or as Pirsig himself described: "The south wind was stronger here and it cooled him. It was steady, like a trade wind. Nothing interfered with its flow toward him over the huge ocean. "Vast emptiness and nothing sacred."
