the following passage from Ken Wilber helps to explain why it's so hard to
break out of the SOM prison:
"One of the principal reasons that the dualistic or 'divide and conquer'
approach has been so pernicious is that the error of dualism forms the root of
intellection and is therefore next to impossible to uproot by intellection.
(Catch 22: If I have a fly in my eye, how can I see I have fly in my eye?)"
SOM -- "the root of intellection" i.e., the root of the intellectual level.
