But it's always thus. When your 5th grade teacher told you iron filings 
are "attracted" to magnets, did you look across the aisle at that cute
red-haired girl & say "No way! They can't have the feelings I do."
Pirsig is investigating what it is to be a "causal agent". His view is that
it differs by levels.
