Thinking about this a bit deeper, Adrie, I guess my beef is not with Hawking personally so much as his social reputation - the way others perceive him. I see it as the "emporer has no clothes" issue. Where his infirmity has become something of a mnemonic device by which he stands out in the common man's mind as some sort of freakish genius, and thus his pronouncements and ideas are accepted without question.
That sort of social reputation confirming his intellectual quality, is what bugs me as immoral and causes my reaction. He may be a great guy, underneath it all. Philosophically, I believe he is absolutizing a human conception of time which is then handed to school children as truth, and the populace via TV and discovery channel explanations that have no real depth. I would be interested to question the derivation of his conceptions, but he's a busy guy, for sure, and I'm nobody worthy of challenging his wardrobe. Even though to my perspective, the emperor indeed wears shabby clothes. That's where I chime in with Magnus. I haven't quite wrapped my brain around "stacks". Although I think I did use one one in a javascript solution once to html nested drop-down menu that worked in Netscape 1.0 A long time ago and my one brief moment of glory of solving a problem that superior programmers had failed of finding a solution. > > and BTW, is there any progress in your encountering with Stephen on your > msn > account to roll over him in a one on one? > I can hardly wait to see the progress in his work, make sure to copy the > loggings to me, so i can crossrefer them with my friend > Steven Van Peteghem, the Physicist , ho works at cern, not as a press > liason > officer but as a core scientist in the ATLAS detector > surroundings,....within the beast so to speak. > > I'm pretty sure i will talk to him about your solution on Hawking's > problems. > > > > I agree wit you , however that Hawking will not stand a long barfight, or > will encounter the iron man at Hawaii. > But i do not think that you will stand your man in a conversation about > science either. > > Any idiot can win a bar fight if he just gets lucky. It's certainly nothing to brag about. I respect chess and astrophysical conceptualization much more.
