Well craig, mark, I'd term it a bit differently.  sq is patterned, and dq is
that-which-patterns.

Calling "that-which-patterns" "unpatterned" leaves too many holes in
existence, imo.  It's not just a blank slate waiting to be randomly
patterned.  Some kind of agency is needed to explain how sensations become
perceptions and molecules become chemistry professors.  DQ is more than
nothingness waiting to happen.
