I have been following this thread for a while, with all its twigs.
Interesting as usual.
I'd like to contribute with some words from another perspective on the
metaphysical question of rape and murder:
A civilisation consist of more than 1 individual. If there is no society
or civilisation there is no need for laws or common behavior in any way
and then there is no question about right or wrong, right?
Why do people stick together? Why don't they just have sex once a year
as most other individual animal races like moose, turtles and snakes?
The answer is that humans like to do it more than once in a year... To
come together at the first tome can be a little tricky but in some way
it use to work by some winking and blinking maybe, just like ducks use
to in the water at spring... But is civilizations built upon sexual
repeted acts only? Governed by inherited rituals and laws that tell
whats appropriate?
I think it's easier too look at the economic Gain for groups holding
together. Groups gain from cooperating. This grouping is one level
higher than the individual level. We know that this grouping started
long before Homo Sapiens. This grouping started long before with the
flocking of the races that was before Homo Sapiens in the evolutionary
stages.
Why is group behaviour like holding together in groups more succesful
than solitary pattern? The conditions should be just as it is today.
People that stick together have more fun. Groups that cooperate are
stronger. Like football or "43-man squamish" described in MAD magazine
june 1965 issue #95.
This age of Man should be called the economic age as most decisions are
taken out from an economic sense. If a decision isn't profitable then at
least the question mostly is "how much does it cost?" In an earlier
period of Man, religious considerations stood above the profit. If a
society prospered the explanation was that the Gods were on their side.
One thing that is basic in the modern world all around this planet is
that we do business, we buy and sell things. We're selling and buying
time, work, things and property and so on. Every single business is the
smallest form of cooperation. In every trade, buy and sell between two
actors on the free market, both gain from the trade, whatever it is,
gold, money or goods or just a kiss. Every trade is free and not one in
the world accepts the deal until he/she think they're doing better after
than before the trade. The seller of tomatoes sell them at a price
becaues he has paid less for them and are selling to get his profit from
selling them. Statistically over a year he is happy if he has done like
15% from all the selling in a year. If he can't do a profit he will go
bankruptand quit that business. Employees go to work because they get
more paid than it cost to do the job...
Now over to the buyer. The buyer is also a winner because he trades
the money for the tomatoes because he think the tomatoes are worth more
than the money he pays for them. Very very obvious but do you think in
that way daily?. There is no common value or price for anything, it is
usually the sellers tag you see. But take a look at ebay and you'll see
that the real value of something is different for just anybody. If, the
tomatoes show up to be of bad quality, rotten or tasting funny, then the
buyer feel screwed and use to get bad feelings about the trade. Nobody
want to make a bad buy. It's when the good or service is more worth than
your money. You buy when you get something better than the money you pay
with.
This is the normal action in any trade or business. Trade of goods and
services occured long before the money showed up. Cooperation is trade
of time and effort even by apes, tunafish and ants. If both gain from
they stay together, if not they'll split. If you read the Tales of King
Arthur and the twelve knights with this glasses you will see some very
interesting things...
Any trade is free and if both gain from it business will continue and
the group will grow and be stronger. All from the small states that was
before Germany into todays world wide enterprises and nations.
All this trade is governed by commercial laws and sense of business.
Because, bad business, where one or both are liars and swindlers, in bad
business one or both parts are losing value. Anyone knows that? Cheaters
and robbers are put in jail and held responsible for reparations of
damage and loss.
Commercial law, sense of businessis and cooperative talent is a firm
static pattern for any superindividual formation in the universe.
Cooperation where both parts gain stay and grow.
Cooperation works through all the levels of patterns, mass is real
heavy. No wonder why the mothership in ID4 is soo fkin huge...
Now let us go back to the rape and the murder.
Are both parts happy with a rape?
