marsha: Hahahaha... I know you're a smart guy, but it seems I haven't given
you enough credit.
One tiny correction: That was CHOOSE. Women would like to choose for
herself.

margaret - ok; I know I don't post on this group nearly enough...and despite
the fact that I refuse to use the feminist label - and believe not just in
'equal rights' but also 'equal lefts'
...I have to agree with Marsha on this one. The story is beautiful - but
I've always taken special offense when the language says: "he would *allow*
her to make the choice"; he would "*let her*...be in charge of her own life"

It's so amusing, really, when one person - male or female - thinks they have
the 'control' in a relationship dynamic - regardless of gender of other
partner - and makes statements like this to the other....

I once had a boyfriend who said: '...but I 'LET' you do whatever you want...
I gently tried to explain the difference, but
I don't think he EVER understood the underlying implications of using the
words in this way.

"Who am I to limit anyone elses experiences? Margaret Warren
