I am as decisive as the next person in context - I just can't reduce
reductionism to a no-no for all time ever, that would be "prejudice"
as you put it.
There are situations where it is part of the processes of science, but
clearly not all contexts are scientific.

Reducing concepts to their genera is how we derrive meaning.
We seek to simplify and economize for the sake of clarity.
Reducto ad absurdom takes it to extremes in an infinite regress.
A logic trap.
But all contexts should be inquired into scientifically which is how we reflect
apon and develop
our reasons for holding certain values. In that way we may perhaps make better
choices.
