I don't think this is what John is pointing at.  He is simply changing
words to give an appreciation for the same thing (analogy if you
will).  By saying DQ we are presenting a static "pattern" of value.
So, by this logic John is performing static replacement.

Now, I believe that we create the past with the present, and are
therefore continually changing the story.  When thinking of the future
we are also doing that in the present and as such, it is not a
projection, but a real thing happening right now.  Now, that is
wondrous indeed.  Can't escape the moment no matter how hard you try.
