Hi David
Your question was:
How do we be free?
What is free? Am I free now? I live in what many would call a free country,
does that mean I am free? What does free even mean? Free from what?
The MOQ would say - static patterns are suffering. They represent old age and
death. At the most basic level if you are free from some thing, that is, if you
are free from some such a static quality then you are said to be free.
In that case how do we experience 'Free'? One way of experiencing free, is by
simply doing something else. If I have the choice to do something else then I
can be said to be free. That's what democracy, or this 'free' country that I
live in is all about. Having the choice to do something else. The freedom. That
thing doesn't have to be better, just so long as it's something else, something
new, that I may or may not have done before, then I can be said to be free.
But unlike what most people say in these free Western nations of ours say,
that's not the only way to be free. This first kind of free is really just more
static quality and not truly free.
There is another way to be truly free from static quality. To be truly free
from static quality you can be free from it by getting it perfect. That is, you
find some such a static quality and do it over and over and over again, until
it no longer grates and it's gone. Through doing something, over and over
again, and getting it perfect, static quality disappears.
This is best experienced by doing something very simple and easy to perfect -
such as sitting in a room. If you sit, the first time you do so your mind will
be very 'loud' and thinking of 10 million things (well mine certainly was).
But the more you sit, the more the mind quietens down, and eventually, if one
sits regularly enough, it stops - revealing the DQ that is there all along.
It's strange, because it wasn't what I was really ever told, or what we're
told in the West, but right in the middle of the most monotonous boredom;
Dynamic Quality and true freedom can be found.
To me this is one of the most beautiful aspects of the MOQ. It explains with
brilliant Metaphysical clarity how to truly experience DQ and make things
better as a result.

Hi Jan-Anders,
I'm not sure I understand your response to my writing. Do you think you can
write about it some more? I have put my comments below for what of it I've
understood regardless..
> I don't think there is a possible ultimate maximum freedom waiting around
the corner somewhere.
I'm not sure what you mean by around the corner however I do think there is a
'true' freedom and what Dan has termed a 'conventional' freedom. One of those
is DQ, the other is just more static quality. Doing some thing else to get away
from some thing is static quality. Getting some thing perfect kills static
quality and reveals the Dynamic Quality that's there all along.
> I think the best we can do is to find the freedom that we have already,
between the static pattern of ours which is the definition of our own original
existence on earth.
Are you saying freedom is to be found 'between' static patterns? What do you
mean by this?
> At the beginning of the big bang, when no static pattern was created, there
was a universal state of total dynamic freedom and all there was was DQ. But who
wants to start over again?
I disagree. Before the inorganic patterns existed there was chaos. It is
quality which holds these patterns together. Albeit a low quality from an MOQ
perspective but a quality none the less.
> I am happy with the relative dynamic freedom I can find between the
measurable moments of static values. There is always a way out somewhere. Without
walls there would be no room.
Again, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Are you suggesting there is
Dynamic Quality between static quality?
In a pragmatic or positivistic view I am often using a simple dichotomy
in separating the measurable from the unmeasurable. Measurable things
are static while unmeasurable are dynamic patterns.
IMO Quality is a balance between Static and Dynamic Quality. This
balance is the Value or the real reality wich the MOQ is all about. The
ideal value is when the division DQ/SQ is 1. All states that are not 1
are the ones that starts events, makes things happening. This difference
is what makes water run and move. If you drink too less, you'll get
thirsty which is a feeling and a signal to act in a certain way. If you
feel stuck, get loose.
The freedom in the MOQ is the freedom to be and do things based on
intellectual values instead of being caught and bound by religion and
determinism without being personally responsible. I e "I am not guilty,
I was forced by mysteriuos voices to follow the Gods will". Not all
people on earth has reached the fourth intellectual level in their
minds. There are a lot of powerful nodes in the world today who benefit
from keeping people left in this belief and these powerful persons are
acting strongly to keep it that way. The right to be stupid and the
freedom to be a fundamentalist is granted by the society. The question
is if it should be legal to keep and make people stupid by delivering
incorrect information or hiding the truth. Correctness and thruth are
intellectual values, free from religious, racial or political
standpoints. Finding and defining these intellectual truths is the
object for philosophers.
The freedom you are mentioning in by sitting and stop thinking is an
illusion. The illusion lies in that you think you're free from your
physical brain and your mind, which are, static representations of
value. You can undress and stay naked but you still have a body. The
Cartesian me is your friendful base for thinking and choosing the next
step in your event of living.
Quality is an event. Freedom is to be able to choose a new and perhaps
better mix of static and dynamic quality, to prolong and change the
event in your own direction out from the static position where you
happen to be.
I have put some hints about how the number of possibilities can be
extracted by a trichotomy; mass, pattern or value. These are the basic
outlines for a definition of Quality which however is exceeding the
borders of this forum. I'm writing a book about that and you'll get a
free signed copy when it's ready.
