Marsha -

It was not meant to be detached, or stark.

I believe you. : ) The tone sometimes comes in in long-term list discussions. I'm an advocate for unusual lots of emotion - http://typelogic.com/enfp.html and http://www.personalitypage.com/ENFP.html .

I am looking forward to reading your book and was curious to what made you interested in her work.

Well, here, don't wait. Her three books are available online, though her best writing - letters and articles - isn't, but will come back in my books.

1902 book - age 19 - Butte, Montana - http://books.google.com/books?id=4PQOAAAAIAAJ&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false - the book that made her famous/infamous - her classic

1903 book - age 21 - Boston, Mass. - http://books.google.com/books?id=4RBbAAAAMAAJ&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false - the follow-up - odd and whispy - she was, in my opinion, taking a "poison pill" and writing the *least* scandalous book she could after the scandal of her first book - no Devil, no cursing, no sexuality

1917 book - age 36 - Butte, Montana - http://books.google.com/books?id=bssYAAAAYAAJ&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false - oh, this one is a creeper - sort of her last testament - I call this her "Black Book" - seems to be made out of introverted electricity.

And after book #3, she went on to make a silent movie - starring as herself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_Who_Have_Made_Love_to_Me

And this only scratches the surface's surface!
