Hi Guys,
In my opinion, we do not have the freedom to do something,
only Not to do something. Moral responsibility is one of
abstention. For every Hitler there are thousands with the
same opportunity that do not proceed towards destruction.

We all have the freedom to act (or not act) within the limitations of our physical being. Volitional acts are motivated by one's sense of value. Whether a particular action is moral or not is determined by both the actor's value system and the mores of his/her society.

For me, moral responsibility is to do unto others as you would
have them do to you, or as you would do to yourself. While
there are some aberrant exceptions, this pretty much covers it.

This Golden Rule, which Kant reformulated as his categorical imperative, is a morality concept based on social reciprocity. Other moral systems have been adapted by various cultures throughout history. Actually, it is man's role as the free agent of Value to discern "right" from "wrong" and "good" from "bad", independently of external authority. This is why he is empowered with value-sensibility.

(Doesn't this make more sense than trying to fathom what "following DQ" really means?)

On behalf of Individual Freedom,
Ham
