[djh responds to Arlo] Arlo, much respect. Both of those activities are mystically degenerate to the extent that they're intellectual. The more intellectual they are - the more mystically degenerate. Generally speaking (with obvious exceptions) painting is less intellectual an activity than motorcycle repair and so motorcycle repair is more mystically degenerate. But, as I've been explaining to dmb, rather than focus on 'what is degenerate?' - a better thing to ask is 'what is good?'. Both good motorcycle repair and good painting as with all good human endeavours - involve a great awareness of DQ - and thus in this sense are mystic activities.
