Marsha said to dmb:
I'm not buying your rhetoric. I am at the MD to explore RMP's Metaphysics of
Quality and the MoQ's relationship to Buddhism, and the way they play in living
my life. I am not here to accept your interpretations, opinions and judgements
as Holy Writ.

Andre replied:
Then why do that here on a philosophical discussion site committed to the works
of Pirsig? You show contempt for the MoQ. You show miserable understanding of
Buddhism and place 'my life' in such a way as to be separate from it. As though
you and your 'life' are two separate entities. .... Please explore your life
in your own private room somewhere with mirrors on every wall and ceiling. And
don't forget the good old tape player.

All credit to Horse who has been extremely patient with you Lucy because some
here are losing their patience. Just for the record, I think you should be
ostracized. You do more harm than good.

dmb says:
What's really strange about Marsha's response is implication that exploring
Pirsig's metaphysics and its relation to Buddhism is somehow distinct from
thinking or even opposed to philosophical discussion.

She also thinks it's enough to characterize my specific criticisms as rhetoric,
opinions, interpretations, judgements and Holy Writ. Like the ignorant
blowhards in talk radio, apparently, she thinks that a snarky attitude or mere
mockery can be substituted for a proper response. What's most disturbing is her
total lack of self-awareness. She doesn't realize that responses like this are
just further evidence of her anti-intellectualism, which is the essence of the
criticism that she's "not buying".

It's like I accused her of cussing too much and now she's using a long string
of profanities in her denial.

It's like she's a genius at being wrong.

Sigh.
