Dan:
Fortunately (or unfortunately in this case) it is possible for anyone
to write and publish a book by using the tools provided by online
booksellers like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords, etc.

It is much like the vanity publishing of old where an author could pay
to have the work published if no traditional publishers would pick it
up, the difference being with Amazon there is no real out of pocket
expenses if one is proficient at using the tools provided.

Many notable authors became known by paying to have their work
published including Marcel Proust (Remembrance of Things Past),
Friedrich Nietzsche (On the Genealogy of Morals, Twilight of the
Idols), L. Frank Baum (Wizard of Oz), etc.

I got a feeling this Mr. Edwards/Hitchcock/whoever will not be falling
into that category.

Anyway,

Dan.
